BARR Credit Services Helps Send Marching Band to Orlando

Sponsors Still Needed to Help
Band Members Achieve Their Dreams

BARR Credit Services is helping a dedicated and talented Alabama marching band to achieve their dreams.

BARR is among the sponsors who will send the Luverne High School marching band to perform at the Orlando (Fla.) Heritage Festival at Universal Studies in April. Corrie Christian, BARR Credit sales representative and mother of a band member, solicited the company for sponsorship, and BARR Credit CEO Randy Frazee is delighted to be involved.

“Supporting local communities has always been important to us at BARR. This is just one small way we can continue to help,” Frazee said.

The high school marching band has a huge impact on the students in this rural Alabama town, fostering friendships, cultivating creativity, and opening young minds to the world of music. “The thing I like most about band is the relationships that develop,” one hornist explained. For the drum major, the band is “like a second family to me.”

Friendly City

For many band members in this community dubbed “The Friendliest City in the South,” the trip to Orlando presents a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to experience glamour and excitement. A trombonist said she can’t wait to get to Orlando and “show people how much hard work I put into doing what I love.”

The band has been working hard to get there, raising some of the necessary funds through the sale of ornaments, candles and cookie dough.

But sponsors are still needed for the Luverne Tigers Marching Band to reach its goal of $16,500. Interested parties can contact Corrie Christian at corriemchristian@gmail.com to sponsor an individual band member or the entire group, or checks may be sent directly to the Luverne High School band at P.O. Box 106, Luverne AL 36049.
