In Collections, It’s All About Relationships
Employee Spotlight: Mike Frazee,
Director of Sales
Like many seasoned collections professionals, Mike Frazee did not initially aspire to work in the credit and collections industry. But he quickly recognized the significant impact he could have on both large and small companies.
“When I can prevent a company from going under, it brightens my day,” Mike says. “It’s not just about saving the company, but also about supporting its employees.” With 31 years of collections experience, Mike continues to make a meaningful difference as Director of Sales at BARR Credit Services.
Mike leads a team of 14 senior account representatives, several with more than 35 years of collection experience. Their focus on building relationships with clients ensures that, once trust is established, they can effectively address client needs.
We interviewed Mike to discover how he helps his team build successful relationships.
Can You Hear Me Now?
“Listening is our job,” Mike says. “We identify problems and suggest solutions. Getting the client to engage in conversation allows us to determine what solution will suit their needs.” All of Mike’s team members are passionate about identifying opportunities to improve their client’s bottom line.
“Our senior account representatives are authentic experts in their approach. They develop a collaborative and ethical method to collecting debt while preserving customer relationships.”
Little Things Matter
“What impresses me the most about working with Mike is his drive to improve our clients’ interactions with BARR Credit Services,” says one of the company’s most experienced senior account representatives.
“Mike presses us to do the little things, like responding quickly to client requests. We ensure we know our clients’ needs and how to solve them. He impresses upon us to make no mistakes when placing new debts. Mike is always willing to jump in to make sure our clients’ needs are met. He provides us with ways to improve our clients’ experience daily. His biggest concern is our clients’ satisfaction.”
An Original A-Player
In 1998, Mike was one of the first six employees working for the newly founded firm of Randall and Richards, the predecessor to BARR Credit Services. Mike was also particularly instrumental in the merger between Andersen, Randall and Richards and The Bessenbacher Company, ensuring a smooth transition for clients.
He trained all staff on the new platform, working directly with all the Kansas City staff members and teaching them to meet the unique challenges presented by each client.
Personally Speaking
Mike grew up in Ohio, and is a man with diverse interests. An avid Ohio State fan and pool player, he also enjoys the puzzle-solving aspect of playing poker. He has competed in the World Series of Poker (WSOP) three times.
